WoW – for all women who identify as lesbian and bisexual in Norwich, Norfolk.

Saturday 22nd May 1pm-5pm.Leceister at the Quaker Meeting Centre.
Big Bi Fun Day (BBFD) is a one day (well, technically, one afternoon) UK event organised for bisexuals and allies to meet up, relax and socialise with other bisexuals and allies (ie, anyone who’s not biphobic!). It will be held in a family friendly venue and we hope that bisexuals from all over the UK (and anywhere else) will take this opportunity to come along and meet people from different regions, catch up with friends and have a fun day out. Children and families are welcome.
Sanji writes:”I’m the main organiser and thought that WoW might be interested in letting families in Norwich know about it.”

Rainbow Families Norfolk is a new group, being started by Keren and Ali for LGBT Parents, carers, and their children, in Norfolk. Both parents, and inspired by their own enjoyment of meeting with other LGBT families, they have organised the first meeting for this Sunday, 29th March 2010 . In the children’s Library-The Forum-Norwich- at 2.30pm.You’re invited to join them for storytelling at 2.30,for those interested-and there is a sitting area away from the little ones for those older children, with computers, a couple of which Keren and Ali hope to book for the groups’ use. This first get together is also a chance to talk about what people want, where, etc.
Wow,with appreciated advice from Voluntary Norfolk, and the Norfok Area LGBT Project are keen to support this group, and Norwich City Council has been helpful too,and Norwich Pride, and many people have asked for such a group, thats fun, safe, and supportive too, for a long time. So lets all keep an eye open for funds and ways to help-and mostly, come with your children and enjoy!
Initially, if you’d like more info, please email us at wownorwich@hotmail.com and we’ll pass your email to the organisers.Jo

Four Minutes
Director: Chris KrausCast: Monica Bleibtreu, Hannah Herzsprung, Sven Pippig, Richy Müller, Amber Bongard‎ – 1hr 52min‎‎ – Rated 15‎‎ – Drama‎‎ – German‎
An embittered, 80-year-old piano teacher working in a women’s prison takes on the most challenging student in her enduring career in director Chris Kraus’ low-key musical drama. For years, Miss Krueger (Monica Bleibtreu) has been teaching more classical piano to some of the most hardened female prisoners in all of Germany, but upon meeting brooding new inmate Jenny (Hannah Herzsprung), Miss Krueger finally seems to have found the one student she can’t break through to — until she hears Jenny play, that is. A former piano prodigy whose abusive childhood prompted her to neglect her natural gift for music in the name of survival, Jenny is a violent offender whose notorious temper has, as an adult, repeatedly landed her behind bars. Though she does still display considerable talent on the ivory, her decidedly antisocial behavior compelled the troubled prisoner to repeatedly sabotage opportunities to take part in recitals that would, at the very least, provide a momentary respite from her grim day-to-day existence.~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

Norwich Pride is thrilled to announce the imminent launch of a new creative writing group, Norwich Out Write, or NOW for short!

NOW is a workshop by and for lgbt writers based in Norfolk. Initially, there will be two groups — one for poetry and one for fiction — and these groups will meet monthly to discuss literature and writing, to do writing exercises, and to critique and support the participants’ craft.

NOW Poetry
Vince Laws will lead a monthly poetry group, based in central Norwich, starting on Wednesday 14 April, in the early evening, say 7pm, and (then every 2nd Wednesday in the month). Vince is a poet and artist, interested in written, visual and performance poetry. He can be contacted at vincelaws@gmail.com
.

NOW Fiction
The NOW fiction workshop will first meet on 22 April at 7 pm at UEA (location to be determined) and will be led by B.J. Epstein. B.J. writes fiction, essays, and journalism, and is a translator and editor as well as a lecturer in literature and translation at UEA. She can be contacted at B.Epstein@uea.ac.uk

In time, NOW may develop other groups such as life-writing, writing for children, etc. The intention is for NOW to be largely peer-led and utilise the knowledge within the groups. NOW may lead to readings, performances, anthologies, or wherever you want it to.

Who can join NOW? Anyone who subscribes to Norwich Pride’s core intention of making Norwich a safe place for everyone. How much will NOW cost? The idea is to cover the costs of the venues etc., so everyone will chip in a couple of quid as required. Can you join both? Yes, you can!

To join, please email B.J. and/or Vince with your name, which group you’d like to join, any particular areas of interest or expertise, any access issues, and we’ll go from there… only don’t hang about, do it NOW!

We look forward to seeing you in April!
