Norwich Pride is thrilled to announce the imminent launch of a new creative writing group, Norwich Out Write, or NOW for short!
NOW is a workshop by and for lgbt writers based in Norfolk. Initially, there will be two groups — one for poetry and one for fiction — and these groups will meet monthly to discuss literature and writing, to do writing exercises, and to critique and support the participants’ craft.
NOW Poetry
Vince Laws will lead a monthly poetry group, based in central Norwich, starting on Wednesday 14 April, in the early evening, say 7pm, and (then every 2nd Wednesday in the month). Vince is a poet and artist, interested in written, visual and performance poetry. He can be contacted at vincelaws@gmail.com.
NOW Fiction
The NOW fiction workshop will first meet on 22 April at 7 pm at UEA (location to be determined) and will be led by B.J. Epstein. B.J. writes fiction, essays, and journalism, and is a translator and editor as well as a lecturer in literature and translation at UEA. She can be contacted at B.Epstein@uea.ac.uk
In time, NOW may develop other groups such as life-writing, writing for children, etc. The intention is for NOW to be largely peer-led and utilise the knowledge within the groups. NOW may lead to readings, performances, anthologies, or wherever you want it to.
Who can join NOW? Anyone who subscribes to Norwich Pride’s core intention of making Norwich a safe place for everyone. How much will NOW cost? The idea is to cover the costs of the venues etc., so everyone will chip in a couple of quid as required. Can you join both? Yes, you can!
To join, please email B.J. and/or Vince with your name, which group you’d like to join, any particular areas of interest or expertise, any access issues, and we’ll go from there… only don’t hang about, do it NOW!
We look forward to seeing you in April!
— B.J. Epstein
