hello here’s a message from Norwich Pride and Shell
Fun Fun Fun at FUSION in the Forum!

The 140 CHARACTERS show on the giant FUSION screen in the Forum is going wonderfully. Thank-you to all the storytellers and their friends who came to the Launch Party and everyone who has visited this week. The show is changing every day with new films and a live feed on Twitter so there’s still plenty of time to get involved.

We are loving taking over FUSION as an LGBT-friendly place and we’re meeting loads of lovely people telling us great stories about friends and family who are LGBT – some recent stories are listed below.

140 CHARACTERS is on every day except Sunday until Saturday 23rd January. Members of the Pride Collective are there every weekday between 10-2pm so come down and see us and hear all the latest gossip.

We want to make our final week in FUSION as special as possible so we’ve arranged entertainment on every day:

MONDAY 18, 10-2pm: Storytelling
We’ve got a range of LGBT + Diversity-friendly children’s books that you can read/have a lovely librarian read to you and your kids.

Hello
We’ve decided to close the drop-in this week-end, Saturday 9th Jan, as the weather, being unpredictable, may be as bad as today- making it uncertain whether we’ll get there to open up.So to make as sure as we can that no one fights thru the snow drifts Ice Queen Stylee, and has a wasted trip, we thought we’d make that decision now. With many apologies, but look forward to next week being open again to meet, 16th Jan, all being well. Take Care, Jo

140 Characters

Members of the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender) community, their friends and families, have written 140 coming-out stories in 140 characters or less (i.e. a Tweet on Twitter). These stories have been made into 12-second films, and the thought-provoking results will be shown on the giant Fusion screen at the Forum in Norwich daily from 10am-5pm between January 11th-22nd.

Community filmmaker Michelle Savage (aka Shelly Telly), the current chair of Norwich Pride, devised the project. “We have been overwhelmed by the honesty, creativity and humour with which people have told their tales. There are sad stories, happy stories, romances and adventures. We’re proud that 140 Characters captures the huge variety of people’s experiences.”

Poet and artist Vince Laws explained why he got involved. “The ability to condense life-changing events into a few well-chosen words is at the heart of poetry. Lines like I wore dresses for Jesus or I tripped over the sequinned stilettos paint powerful pictures instantly.”

Vince Laws and musician and singer Maddie Castell, will perform at the 140 Characters Launch Party on Monday January 11th.

140 Characters is supported by the Forum Trust, City College, the Writers’ Centre Norwich, and Norwich Pride, and is a What Next? project.
