World Aids Day Events, Norwich

December the 1st.
We’d like to post extracts from the lastest Norwich Pride Mailout,so you can part of this years World Aids Day events in Norwich.Shell Writes:
“The 28th is the last Saturday of the month so is an official SShh Saturday where the “A Day in Hand Campaign” encourage couples to enjoy some same-sex hand-holding and upload pics to their website http://www.facebook.com/l/b32cb;www.adayinhand.com. This weekend the organisers would also love you to wear red ribbons for WAD. Go on – join the silent revolution….
On Saturday Night, there’s a meeting at the Catherine Wheel at 7.30pm for anyone who’s interested in throwing themselves out of a plane (with a parachute) on Friday 26th February to raise money for The British Heart Foundation, The East Anglian Air Ambulance and Norwich Pride 2010.
Stick around afterwards for the Catherine Wheel WAD Event that includes performances from The Killer Queens, KT Kabaret, Flame (Boyband), Vince Laws (poet) Simon (Singer) Pequila Bigtopp (Cabaret) and Special K (Dance Diva)
Talking of Vince Laws, our lovely local poet is also performing his poetry at a Brighton World Aids Day event, and will display the poem Human written out letter-by-letter on his empty medication bottles.
“I’m making the point that yes there is treatment for HIV, but don’t think that’s an easy option. There are 300 medicine bottles and boxes here, and that represents roughly a year of treatment. On the other hand being HIV+ is no longer the death sentence it once was, and it made me decide to use my time doing exactly what I want to do, so in that sense I see it as a blessing.”
Vince will read the poem and display the work at the WAD Church Service, at St John the Baptist, Timberhill, Norwich on Tuesday 1st December at 7.30pm.
A week later, on Tuesday 8th December, Vince will host a poetry dinner at the Woolpit Swan (just off the A14 near Bury St Edmunds) from 7.30pm. Enjoy a night of thought-provoking poetry, followed by homemade fish pie and lemon tart all for £10 per head. To book, contact the Woolpit Swan on 01359 240482 or at tws@woolpitswan.co.uk. Rooms available at reasonable rates.”
You can get your red ribbons from TEN(01603 219299)or visit TEN’s website for more info
and also from the Rainbow Fayre, and local LGBT Venues.
