A Day in Hand
Sunday 17th May3pmMillennium Plain (outside the Forum)
Help us support same-sex hand holding. It’s the most powerful statement we can make, and you don’t have to wait until Pride to do it. It feels pretty good too.On 17th May 2009, same-sex couples will take to the streets of the nation for one of the biggest organised same-sex hand holding events in the world. If you’d like to be a part of this please join the Norwich Pride Collective on Millennium Plain outside the Forum at 3pm. If you’re straight, pledge to hold someone’s hand of the same gender for a period of time (even if it’s one minute) and tell us how it made you feel.Upload pics of you and your same-sex partner to www.adayinhand.com
“One of the great documentaries of our time.”- Leonard Maltin (2004)
Sunday 17th May,
5.40pm:
at Cinema City. If you thought Sean Penn was great playing Harvey Milk, you’ll be amazed by the man himself! This is a rare opportunity to see the the landmark Oscar-winning 1984 documentary on the big screen. Harvey Milk was the first openly gay man elected to political office in California This stirring portrait features remarkable footage of the charming and inspiring ‘Mayor of Castro Street’ himself, first-hand evidence that helps one understand how one man managed to inspire and mobilise so many people. Special introduction from Luke Fitzgerald who’ll tell us what it was like to be a member of the Gay Liberation Front and show some fab archive photos. www.thetimesofharveymilk.com
