Activist and author of cult lesbian smut novel Cherry, Charlotte Cooper examines the way censorship laws have been used against queer writing.
11.40 – 12.20 Should the T be in LGBT?
Natasha Curson, Director of UEA’s Postgraduate Programmes in HE Development and a published writer on Trans equality for The Guardian explores this topic.
12.20 – 13.00 The Red in the Rainbow: Is Equality Achievable?
Hannah Dee is a leading LGBT campaigner and activist. A leading member of the Socialist Worker’s Party, she has will be speaking about her recently published book ‘The Red in the Rainbow’.
15.45 – 16.30 Literature and young people – what is out there?
Dr BJ Epstein, UEA Lecturer in Literature and Translation, looks at what children’s literature is available for LGBT families.
16.30 – 17.30 Labels are for Soup Cans?
A variety of speakers debate about how the LGBT community label themselves and whether this progresses equality. You are most welcome to share your views!
