Less than a week to go to Norwich Pride and there’s loads of fantastic things happening to get you in the mood for the big day. Here’s a run-down of the events over the next few days. MONDAY 25 JULY 2011

PRIDE LIVE!

Norwich Pride has its own radio show! Every Monday from 6-7pm on Future Radio 107.8fm www.futureradio.com/listenlive Tune in to find out all the latest gossip and news of our Pride celebration. If you can’t make the show, you can check out the podcast via www.norwichpride.org.uk. Join us for an After-Show Party at the Coach and Horses, Union Street.

BOYS! BOYS! BOYS!

Dugald Ferguson’s exhibition for the Pride Arts Trail is photography of miniature sets and sportsmen. It’s in Sinsins Lovestore, 2 Charing Cross, Norwich. The Launch is from 6.30-9pm. Marcus Dickey-Horley, curator at the Tate Modern, is officially opening it and there will be Mrs Kiddie’s amazin cupcakes and Martin who owns Sinsins has also promised 30% off his saucy full priced products…..

SCRABBLE WITH PRIDE

Scrabble with Pride 7.30-9.30pm at the Tea Lounge. Bring
your Scrabble board, roll your sleeves up and join in, for a fun and (if you like) competitive evening! There are prizes!!

KICK-OFF TO PRIDE

Eaton Park, 7pm, free. A friendly kick-a-bout: we’ll be the ones having fun with a pink football near the rainbow flags. If
it rains, we’ll go to the Coach and Horses (Union Street) for a drink.

THURSDAY 28 JULY 2011

POP YOUR TOPS FOR PRIDE

Join the Pride Arts Team at St Gregory’s Centre for the Arts, Pottergate from 12-4 to make something beautiful out of several sacks of rainbow coloured-bottle tops.

SUMMER SOIREE

Café Rouge: a summer’s soirée to celebrate Pride, Café
rouge has teamed up with the extravagant cast members of The Covert Club to present an evening of live entertainment and a fine selection of Petits Plats, along with sampling delicious wines. Sean Seraphim with the official Norwich Pride single ‘Quiet Riot’ will also perform. Tickets £15 from Café Rouge, 01603 624230.

SING WITH PRIDE

The Pride Choir meet from 7-9pm at United Reformed Church, Princes Street. We’ll be rehearsing for our performance on the big day but anyone is welcome to come along and join in. Costs £6/£4 concessions.

MAMMA MIA

Cinema City’s Out at the Movies feel-good film for Pride is Mamma Mia! It starts just after 9pm (when the choir have raced over from their rehearsal!) PRIDE TEA PARTY

The Pride Tea Party is the traditional start to the Norwich Pride weekend. At the Tea Lounge on Ber St, the tables will be filled with delicately cut sandwiches, delicious homemade cakes and delightful cream-filled scones. Rod the harpist will gently serenade us with Somewhere Over the Rainbow; Vince Laws, the Pride Poet Laureate will perform love poetry; and Fanny Jam, the funniest, most talented bunch of lesbian singer-songwriters in the UK today, are doing an acoustic set of their songs. And we’ll be surrounded by the gorgeous, colourful, abstract images of Steph Kedik’s exhibition “Gifts from the Garden”. Embira Jewellery will be there to give us our last chance to buy some of their beautiful rainbow bracelets and necklaces with beads from East Africa, designed especially for Norwich Pride. THE COVERT CLUB

The Covert Club at Norwich Arts Centre. Comedy, music,
performance and a good night out will get us all into the Pride spirit on the eve of the big day, with cocktails and DJ til 1am.  Doors 7pm for 8pm show. Tickets £15 (over 18s) from Norwich Arts Centre, 01603 660352 or www.covertclub.co.uk.

SISTER AXE

Sister Axe ‘It’s a girl thing’ 9pm – 1am, The Talk, £3 on the door. Music will include the best pop and dance from the last two decades with some old favourites in the mix. This is back for one
night only, open to everyone and anyone so don’t miss out and come on down.

KARAOKE AT THE COACH & HORSES

The Coach and Horses, Union St, from 8pm. Come and have a drink and a sing along.

PRE-PRIDE PARTY AT THE CASTLE

From 8pm. Pre-Pride party night with gay anthems
in the barn getting into the Pride spirit.

CLUBBING AT THE LOFT NR1

From 9pm, featuring drag sensation Lizzy Drip on stage at midnight.
